ISLAND 92 RADIO WELCOMES ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE TERRY SYLVESTER OF THE HOLLIES AND JOHN FORD COLEY FOR A FREE CONCERT EVENT SUNDAY NIGHT AT THE ALLEY

– EVENT KICKS OFF ISLAND 92’s FREE 2010 CONCERT SERIES SIMPSON BAY, ST. MAARTEN, NETHERLANDS/ANTILLES – January 12, 2010 – Island 92 Radio today announced the kickoff of their 2010 concert season with a very special one night event at the Alley, this Sunday; a double-bill of classic pop music legends Terry Sylvester, vocalist for the international hit-makers The Hollies, and John Ford Coley of England Dan & John Ford Coley. This will be Terry’s first performance since it was announced that he would be an inductee of the 2010 class of the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame alongside ABBA, Genesis, and Jimmy Cliff.

Terry Sylvester’s catalogue of worldwide hits includes such classics as “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother”, “The Air That I Breathe”, “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress”, “Bus Stop”, “Just One Look”, “Carrie Anne”, and “The Hippie Hippie Shake”. John Ford Coley’s Grammy-nominated Top 10 hits include “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight”, “Night Are Forever Without You”, “Love is the Answer”, and “We’ll Never Have to Say Goodbye Again”. Both Terry and John are veteran performers on St. Maarten and have chosen to return to the friendly island again to grace the Alley with their phenomenal talents.

Soc of Island 92 Radio stated, “You make music your career, you play the stuff you love on the radio every day, and then every once in a while you get that big opportunity to see the musicians you play on the radio do what they do live and in an intimate setting and that makes it all worthwhile. Terry Sylvester is a great performer, he has an amazing voice, a roster of hit songs and a ton of energy that you just don’t see in the groups these days. He is entertainment personified – you will be impressed, I guarantee it! And when you pair Terry up with a legend like John Ford Coley you are looking at a very memorable concert. In the late 70’s you just couldn’t turn on the radio without hearing one of John’s hits. I would venture to guess John’s songs were responsible for many a romantic evening. We can’t wait to have these guys back on St. Maarten for a great show at the Alley this Sunday, it’s something you won’t want to miss!” Soc continued, “This show would not be possible without the support of our fantastic concert sponsors. Pineapple Pete’s, Coors Light, Antillean Liquors, UTS, Mary’s Boon Beach Resort, U-SAVE Car Rental, Century 21 Island Realty, The New 3 Palms Restaurant and Lounge and The Alley are all making this event possible as well as the entire 2010 concert series. Did I forget to mention, this concert and the entire series are free. To each of our sponsors, I extend a heartfelt thank you.

Pierre Ferland, Head Pineapple at Pineapple Pete’s/The Alley said, “We are really excited and looking forward to hosting this amazing concert with Terry Sylvester and John Ford Coley. It is such a treat to have two top billing world famous musical acts here on St. Maarten, especially because I have always enjoyed their music!”

Terry Sylvester of The Hollies commented, “This is a really big year for me having recently heard that I (and the Hollies) will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame later this year. It is truly an honor, but more importantly, it is an honor to enjoy what you do so much and to be able to share it with others in places like St. Maarten. In years past I have toured the globe several times over, playing for diverse people and cultures from the Caribbean to Europe and I always look forward to coming back to St. Maarten. I first came here a number of years ago on a cruise and remember thinking how much I wanted to return and really spend some time here. Then two years ago I was offered the opportunity to play here with Ambrosia and jumped at the chance. After that week here I was hooked, returning the next year again with Ambrosia. St. Maarten has become a bit of a home away from home and I intend to make this trip every year. There is something special about playing to a more intimate audience in a warm, welcoming Caribbean setting that really sets the mood. It creates an ambiance, an aura and an energy that is unparalleled. John and I look forward to seeing everyone over at the Alley this Sunday and promise to put on a first class show for everyone!”

This concert is sponsored by Pineapple Pete’s, Antillean Liquors, Coors Light, UTS, The Alley, Mary’s Boon Beach Resort, The New 3 Palms Restaurant and Lounge, Century 21 Island Realty, U-Save Auto Rental and Island 92.
